Learn to have a very casual conversation with a new friend. Ask their name, where they're from, and discuss the weather.

Unidad 2: Soy Yo

Talk about yourself and others

Describe yourself and others using the verb "ser" and characteristics. Talk about your profession and what others do for work.

Unidad 3: La Familia

Your Family and Friends

Talk about who is in your family and describe them to others using the verb "tener". Tell their birthdates and ages by learning the numbers 0 - 100.

Unidad 4: A la Iglesia

Church

Talk about different activities and places around your church. Describe the people there and what they do. Describe where things are with the verb "estar" and conjugate AR verbs

Unidad 5: La Comida

Food and preferences

Describe foods you do and don't like using the verb "gustar." Use ER and IR verbs to talk about eatings, drinking and sharing.

Around town

Talk about places around town and how to get there using simple commands. Use the informal future to talk about weekend plans with the verb "ir."

  • I've never taken Spanish before - will this be a beginners class?

    Absolutely! Spanish for Ministry is for absolute beginners or those who need a refresher with liturgical language. There are also Spanish for Liturgy courses if you're just looking to learn to pronounce liturgical Spanish.

  • Are the courses online-only?

    All course materials will be made available online. Live classes are conducted over Zoom or Google Meet. You may either take the course live or use the self-paced option. If you live near Raleigh, NC and are looking for an in person meeting, please email [email protected]

  • Will I be granted continuing education credit?

    A certificate will be awarded at the conclusion of coursework and can be applied for continuing education hours, though no formal credits for university are able to be awarded.

  • How long is this course?

    For Fall 2023, the classes are 10 week intensives, meeting twice per week with an optional Friday conversation or cultural lesson.
